The Right Reverend Maurice Day DD MA (2 September 1843–27 May 1923) was an Anglican bishop in the early 20th century.〔''Handbook of British Chronology'' By Fryde, E. B;. Greenway, D.E;Porter, S; Roy, I: Cambridge, CUP, 1996 ISBN 0-521-56350-X, 0713642556〕 He was born on Valentia Island, County Kerry on 2 September 1843 into an ecclesiastical family, the son of the Very Reverend John Godfrey Day, sometime Dean of Ardfert,〔''Who was Who'' 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He held curacies at St Luke's, Cork and then St Matthias's, Dublin. He was Vicar of Greystones and then Killiney. In 1894 he returned to his old parish in Dublin as Rector,〔"The Clergy List, Clerical Guide and Ecclesiastical Directory" London, John Phillips, 1900〕 staying until 1905 when he became Dean of Ossory. He was appointed Bishop of Clogher in 1908〔"New Bishop of Clogher" ''The Times'', Friday, Dec 20, 1907; pg. 9; Issue 38521; col C〕 and died in post on 27 May 1923.〔"Obituary.
